Hand forged by hammer and anvil in Fife, Scotland.
The blade on this peice has been made from 26c3 High Carbon Steel, aka 'Spicy White' and features a bold Hamon line.
This line is formed by a heat treatment process called 'differential hardening' which causes a different crystal structure to be formed in the steel along the cutting edge, to that of the spine. Resulting in a hard and sharp edge, with a softer, more shock absorbing spine.
After the heat treatment process was done, this one was etched with an acid to reveal the boundary between the two different types of crystal.
Not only does the technique produce a robust and tough blade, but they are also add a unique visual aspect to every knife.
A full-tang design with dark Walnut handle scales & brass liners, which are recessed to give a stepped terrace effect around the borders. Some of the tang and liners are exposed and give a border to the Walnut.
